garville avenue mews
This mews site presented both opportunities and challenges due to its corner location on a busy road. The adopted strategy takes the existing form and material of the stone wall to form a protective screen to the ground floor living spaces and garden. A folded plane of zinc floats over this wall and directs high level light into the depth of the long plan. This house uses high levels of insulation in conjunction with an air tight envelope and geothermal heat source to significantly reduce energy usage. This project was completed by Rory Murphy as a director of Studio M Architects.
