The brief required an upgrade of existing substandard office accommodation with additional high quality office space to be provided to the rear without compromising the protected structure status of the original building. The initial proposal employs simple forms and materials shaped to give breathing space to the protected structure while overcoming site constraints to admit natural light and ventilation throughout.
